Changing in a public bathroom sounds as bad as it is.  I usually use the handicap stall since it's larger and sometimes has more places to hang garments.  Yeah...it's not that great.

With that said, I am happy to announce that the university I work at, IUPUI, has a changing room with lockers and a couch to sit on.  We are a lucky bunch!  I've always day-dreamed that the University of Texas would have at least a folding screen that art models could change behind.  I remember changing behind a chalkboard which was a half-baked idea: it only covered my breasts.  Changing in a storage room at ACC is not much better.  Students accidentally come to get supplies while you change.  And again, not everyone has this modesty of changing, but for those who do they should be covered, for lack of better words.

I have no power in Austin, you do though.

Wow! Lockers and everything!!!!!! Too bad UT doesn't think the art department is worth throwing much money at. I hope everything is going well for you. Our loss is IUPUI's gain.

I did some research and IUPUI's Herron School of Art was relocated to a new building which was finished in 2005. The architects knew what they were doing this time. I miss you too.

I'm stunned to think that Austin, which is supposed to be so artist-friendly, is indifferent when it comes to the needs of artists' models, those people without whom artists could not do figurative art! Makes me feel appreciative of our little curtained changing nook at AVAA--to think that we've got more going in that regard than UT or ACC is amazing. We do miss you, Waverly. I hope life there is good to you.

Hi Theresa. I miss you too. Rik and I are saving money, and maybe someday we could buy the girl with the raven head. I remember the first time I met you was at that session. Take care.

Yes, I remember very clearly that was the first time we met each other. I still have that painting. Thanks for your appreciation of it! Now I'm doing a painting of Dave, with a sea shell hat, like yours.
